Foods in Season this July at Ontario Grocery Stores

Updated: Jul 11, 2022

Buying seasonal foods is cost effective, because these foods are grown in Ontario they do not have import and travel costs factored into their price, and will be more fresh than the foods we import.

The crops listed are specific to large industrial farming output that can be done in green houses rather than being dependent on weather conditions like urban gardens. For this reason some of these crops will be in season in our grocery stores all summer or towards autumn once again.

You will notice for the next month our grocery stores are abundant in Ontario grown berries, fresh herbs, cucumbers, cherries, asparagus and more.

when a food is locally grown it is much more nutrient dense than imported produce

Keep an eye out for recipes including some of these foods to follow soon.
